Greg Bateman speaking to an audience at a company event
KEYNOTES + COMPANY EVENTS

Inspiration is the easy bit.
No one books me for that.

Greg Bateman

Keynotes for company conferences, leadership days and kick-offs.

I bring 15 years in professional sport, followed by 10 years building businesses and working with leaders and teams.

Tell me what you’re trying to land with the room. We’ll build the session around that.

THE APPLAUSE ISN’T THE OUTCOME

Most keynotes work brilliantly for about 48 hours.

The room is up. The stories land. Everyone means it.

Then Monday happens.

People go back to the same meetings, the same pressures and the same ways of working. The energy disappears and very little actually changes.

I’ve sat through enough of those sessions to know the difference.

The talks that stick aren’t simply the ones with the best story. They’re the ones where people leave holding something they can actually use.

STORY → PRACTICE → MONDAY

I want the session to live beyond the room.

The story gets people listening. The actionable takeaway is what makes it useful. As a Rituals coach, I know how to create the environment that supports real behaviour change. I’ll bring existing Rituals or shape them around your challenge, so your team can practise something together on the day, take it away and, more importantly, actually use it come Monday.

01

Listen

A story, idea or lived experience that gives the room a different way of seeing the challenge.

02

Practise

A simple Ritual people can experience together there and then.

03

Use it

Something practical they can take back into meetings, conversations and everyday work.

Because inspiration matters.
But what happens on Monday matters more.

TWO VERY DIFFERENT KINDS OF PRESSURE

Professional rugby taught me a lot about performance.
Building businesses taught me the rest.

I spent 15 years in professional rugby.

Since leaving the game, I’ve spent another decade building and scaling businesses from nothing — including a beer brand, a coffee business and now my work coaching leaders and teams at Rituals for Performance.

Elite sport and business look very different from the outside. Inside, many of the challenges are remarkably similar.

Standards. Pressure. Trust. Setbacks. Accountability. Difficult conversations. Carrying people. Being carried. Knowing when to push and when to support.

I’ve got plenty of scar tissue from both. That’s usually where the useful stories come from.

CONVERSATIONS WORTH OPENING UP

Some of the things I’ve been asked to put on the table.

01

Going up a league

What changes in you, your team and your standards when expectations rise.

02

Performance + wellbeing

Why looking after people and expecting a lot from them are not opposites.

03

Care + standards

Why the best leaders hold both at exactly the same time.

04

The conversations nobody is having

What silence costs teams, leaders and performance.

05

Carrying people. Being carried.

What real accountability feels like inside a team.

06

Setbacks, injury + starting again

What recovery actually asks of us when the plan disappears.

07

Building something from nothing

The less glamorous reality of entrepreneurship, uncertainty and keeping going.

08

Mental health

The things people carry that rarely appear on the agenda.

Most rooms don’t need all of these. Usually there are two or three themes underneath the day that really matter. That’s where we start.

BUILT AROUND YOUR ROOM

There is no set talk.

You tell me who is in the room, what is happening around them and the main thing you want people walking out with. Co-creation is at the heart of what we do at Rituals. We will build a great session together around that outcome.

30–40 MINUTES

Keynote

A focused keynote built around the central idea you want the room to hear, feel and remember.

BESPOKE

Longer or more interactive workshop

Sometimes people need to listen. Sometimes they need to talk. Sometimes the room needs a structure that helps them do some real work together.

FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE PUT GREG IN THE ROOM

Engaging is good. Useful is better.

We asked Greg in to speak at our annual company conference at a point where the business was growing quickly and the expectations on the team were changing. Drawing on his professional sporting experience, he spoke about the mindset and standards required to ‘go up a league’ in a way that really resonated with the team. What impressed me most was how well he understood the audience. The session was engaging and entertaining but also grounded and practical, with messages people could relate to and reflect on afterwards. Greg brought great energy to the day and added real value to the wider conference.
Jenn KentHead of People · The Config Team
“Greg joined us virtually while we were on a full company session. It was the perfect way to have a different perspective going into our afternoon session. Lived and practical experience bringing to life the high performance commitment to each other we needed.”
Rob HardyExecutive Director – Commercial · Keystone Education Group
“I’ve known Greg since his professional rugby days at Leicester Tigers and have seen him authentically bridge elite sport and business through a genuine focus on people and organisational culture as key drivers of performance. What sets Greg apart is the calm, humble way he speaks about mental health, success and disappointment from lived experience.”

WHERE THIS WORKS BEST

Company conferences and annual kick-offs.
Leadership away days.
Management and development programmes.
Membership bodies and trade association conferences.

Usually somewhere between 30 and 300 people. More important than the number is having the people who can change something sitting in the room.

Tell me what you’re trying to land.

Send me the date, the audience and the main thing you want people walking out with.
